Becky, a native Texan, invited Jesus into her heart as a child. As a young adult, she made a successful career in broadcast journalism, and worked in radio and television for 10 years. But there was something inside of her that wouldn’t let her settle down to a comfortable life.
Gateway To The Nations
In 1992, Becky visited Belarus as part of a large team of missionaries from her hometown, Amarillo. It was truly a historic event: the walls of the Soviet Union had just come down and missionaries could bring the Gospel there for the first time. Becky filmed that trip, and produced a news documentary called “Son Over Russia.”
While she was working on the documentary, the faces of Soviet people became embedded in her soul. Her heart was with them, in the post-Communist world across the ocean.
She started looking for a way to go to Belarus as a full-time missionary. After making multiple vain attempts to get there, Becky became very frustrated. She even asked God to take this passion out of her heart if it wasn’t His will.
Christ For the Nations Institute was the last door Becky decided to knock on. Through an unexpected invitation, she attended CFNI’s annual international missions conference in the spring of 1994. As she walked into the auditorium and saw colorful international flags and attires, she heard an audible voice of the Lord saying, “Becky, this is not your doorway. This is your gateway to the nations.”
