Tom & Tanya Edging are seasoned Christian ministers. Together they travel frequently to Tanya’s native country of Ukraine where they serve in several churches and cities. They also help Ukrainians who take refuge from the war in other countries including the USA.

We serve daily in a huge refugee center in Warsaw. Now 1,500 people live there. Every Sunday we hold a Christian meeting there, which is attended by 40 people. We also hold individual meetings during the week and practically serve Ukrainians by helping them solve pressing issues.

After 6 years of developing family preservation and orphan prevention resources in Ukraine, the McGowan family is living in Western Ukraine to further develop the organization Leah Co-Founded, New Song International. Mariana blesses young mothers who can not afford childcare while they work to support their families. She shares the gospel with the children and their moms. She also enjoys serving the homeless and interacting with many of them on the street. Mariana also uses her linguistic skills to teach Spanish and English to young disciples at local churches and schools. Additionally, she is very active in her church’s missions ministry.

Beto & Ale serve the Tarahumara Indians in the Sierra Madre mountains. Beto disciples the believers while Ale ministers to them in their home. They have two daughters, Natalia & Elianne. Since 2015, they both have served as church planters, seeing new believers come to know God in an isolated village where there were never followers of Jesus. Both are trained medical professionals and teachers.

Katia and Kostya have dedicated their lives to ministering to teen orphans in Belarus. Katia and Kostya and their family of 7 recently fled from their country because of the war between their neighbors, Russia and Ukraine. They took what they could carry in 3 suitcases, traveled for many weeks, and crossed the Mexican border into the USA for asylum. Gabriel and Kelly Young both knew God was calling them to advocate for orphaned and vulnerable children from around the age of seven, and that calling on their lives has only continued to grow and become further defined throughout the years. Although Gabriel and Kelly didn’t meet until they were 18 years old, they can look back and see the countless ways that God was working in their lives to ultimately lead the two together—all while pursuing the calling of advocating for vulnerable children. Gabriel and Kelly met while on a global orphan care training trip in China together in 2015 and the two became great friends, which led to them dating a few years later and getting married in March of 2021.

Yarinka is native to Ukraine and has lived and served in unfriendly-to-the-gospel East Asian countries for more than 15-years. Her passion is to disciple youth while helping to plant churches, Bible schools, and rescue people involved in gangs and human trafficking. She speaks four languages. When Russia invaded her country in February 2022, at great personal risk, Yarinka chose to remain in Ukraine to help her church with humanitarian services to thousands of fleeing, stranded, and displaced citizens. Heart for Orphans provides loving, nurturing, Christ-centered transition homes and programs for orphaned children in Ukraine, Belarus, Kenya, Romania and Slovakia. Our goal is to transform the lives of kids that have been abandoned and are traumatized by their past.
